Evidence shows that mental and physical health are at an all-time low, with many people facing chronic pain, burnout, and a sense of decline. Mental health disorders now affect an estimated 264 million people worldwide.
Looking ahead, by 2050, 2 billion people will be 65 or older, and maintaining mobility will be key to preserving their quality of life. Currently, 28 million people in the UK alone suffer from chronic pain. Of these, 4% to 20% experience pain unrelated to physical trauma or disease, such as insomnia, weakness, and fatigue often driven by untreated mental pain from the past or present.
Mental health issues, musculoskeletal problems, and injuries are the leading causes of lost days, with the average person losing 15.8 days per year. This is uninsured time away from important activities, resulting in a decline not just physically but also financially.
